Montgomery Community Television, Inc.

Governance

Montgomery Community Television (MCT) is an independent, nonprofit organization with a volunteer board of directors.

Unaffiliated Individuals (elected)
Eight board seats are a result of elections by the members of MCT. Members are defined as anyone who is a Montgomery County resident and has asked to receive our regular program guide, or, someone who has become certified and been active in the prior five years. Members interested in running for an Unaffiliated seat must submit a petition of at least 30 members. Once the petitions have been validated and there are more than eight candidates, a ballot will be mailed to all members.

Organizational Representatives (appointed)
Twelve board seats are a result of designated organizations who appoint an individual for up to four years or two consecutive two year terms. Eligible organizations are non-profits with a Montgomery County address or serve Montgomery County. Organizations that are interested in applying must submit an application for consideration by Monday August 30.

Other Directors (appointed)
There are appointed seats for designated representatives of the cities of Rockville and Takoma Park, the Maryland Municipal League, and any cable franchise operator in Montgomery County.

At-Large Directors (appointed)
Up to three additional board seats are to be filled at the first board meeting of each odd-numbered year by those directors chosen above. These appointed seats should be to achieve a balance of skills and backgrounds that may not have resulted from the other election or appointments.

Directors must be a resident of Montgomery County, subscribe to a locally franchised cable television service and must not hold any elected public office or work under the exclusive control of an elected official.

The board typically meets the third Monday of the odd numbered months at 7:30 PM and is open to members and the public. Consult the board calendar to obtain the current schedule.
